Come And Take it
« Come and take it » ( de l'anglais: Venez et prenez-le) était un slogan utilisé pendant la révolution texane en 1835. En mars 1831, Juan Gomez, un lieutenant dans l'armée mexicaine,travaillant au côté de Tadeo Ortiz, un consul de Bordeaux, France, à accordée un petit canon à la colonie de San Antonio. Le petit canon en bronze a été reçu par la colonie et signé par Randy Tumlinson. Il a été alors transporté à Gonzales au Texas, plus tard l'objet fait la fierté du Texas.Un accrochage mineure connue sous le nom de bataille de Gonzales, où un petit groupe de Texans qui avec succès a résisté aux forces mexicaines qui ont eu ordres pour saisir leur canon. Comme un symbole de défit, les Texans avaient façonné un drapeau contenant l'expression avec une étoile noire et une image du canon qu'ils avaient reçu six ans plus tôt des mains des mexicains.
Version moderne
Dans des temps plus modernes, le drapeau "Come and take it"; a été modifié et employé comme symbole du droit du port d'armes par les avocats. La première version connue est des années 80, le canon est remplacé par un fusil d'assaut M16A2, et a été montrée dans une déclaration des droits lors d'un rassemblent en Arizona. En 2002, le drapeau a été encore modifié pour dépeindre un fusil du Barret .50 BMG. Des reproductions du drapeau peuvent être vues dans le Capitole de l’État du Texas et à la bibliothèque de Perkins à l'Université Duke
