Catterick

Catterick est un village et une paroisse civile du district de Richmondshire, dans le Yorkshire du Nord. Son existence remonte à l'époque romaine, lorsque Cataractonium était un fort romain protégeant le croisement de la Grande route du Nord et de Dere Street, sur la rivière Swale. Il compte 2 743 habitants (2001).

Vers l'an 600, Catterick fut le théâtre d'une bataille entre les Bretons et les Angles de Bernicie, relatée dans le poème Y Gododdin. Catterick fut ensuite le siège du royaume de Rheged.
