Caryl Churchill est née à Londres le 3 septembre 1938. Elle est reconnue comme une dramaturge britannique et un auteur important. Elle écrit également des scénarios pour la télévision.
Biographie
Caryl Churchill est née en 1938 à Londres, en Angleterre. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, sa famille émigra à Montréal au Québec (Canada), où elle intégra la Trafalgar School for Girls. Elle retourna en Angleterre pour étudier à l'Université d'Oxford, diplômée de la Lady Margaret Hall en 1960 en littérature anglaise.
Elle commença sa carrière ici, écrivant trois pièces jouée par des groupes d'étudiants de l'université : Downstairs, You've No Need to be Frightened et Having a Wonderful Time.
En 1961, elle épousa l'avocat David Harter, et éleva leurs trois enfants Joe, Paul et Rick à Islington, dans le nord de Londres.
Elle préside la Palestine Solidarity Campaign ("Campagne de solidarité pour la Palestine").
