Birthelm (mort le 15 mai 973) est évêque de Wells de 956 à sa mort. En 959, le roi Edwy d'Angleterre le choisit pour devenir le vingt-quatrième archevêque de Cantorbéry après la mort d'Ælfsige. Après la mort d'Edwy, son fils Edgar annule cette décision, prétextant de la mauvaise gestion du diocèse de Wells par Birthelm, et il place Dustan à la tête de l'archevêché. Birthelm retourne à Wells, et reste son évêque jusqu'à sa mort.
