William Gass

William Gass

William Howard Gass (né le 30 juillet 1924) est un écrivain américain.

Professeur de philosophie à l'Université Washington de Saint Louis, William Gass a été notamment marqué par l'enseignement de Ludwig Wittgenstein.

Considéré comme l'un des plus grands écrivains de sa génération, aux États-Unis, on lui doit deux romans, Omensetter's Luck (1966) et The Tunnel (Le Tunnel, traduit en français par Claro), récompensé par l'American Book Award en 1995. Il est également l'auteur de trois recueils de nouvelles, sept volumes d'essais (dont trois ont remporté le National Book Critics Circle Award) et de critiques.
