William Edmondson (1870 - 1951, Nashville) est un artiste afro-américain folk art[1].

Il est né vers 1870 dans le comté de Davidson (Tennessee) (Drapeau des États-Unis États-Unis). Il faisait partie d'une famille de six enfants dont les parents étaient George and Jane Edmondson. Il grandit à Nashville et commença à travailler à l'âge de 16 ans. Il occupa plusieurs emplois notamment au St. Louis Railroad et au Women’s hospital avant de se consacrer à la sculpture.
