Thomas Egerton, baron Ellesmere puis 1er vicomte Brackley

Thomas Egerton (23 janvier 154015 mars 1617), baron Ellesmere puis 1er vicomte Brackley, chancelier d'Angleterre sous Jacques Ier d'Angleterre.

Il fut chargé entre autres affaires importantes de suivre le procès du comte de Somerset, ancien favori de Jacques, accusé d'empoisonnement et s'opposa au roi qui voulait pardonner au coupable. Il résigna les sceaux en 1617, et désigna Francis Bacon pour lui succéder. Il mourut peu de jours après. Jacques Ier l'avait créé baron Ellesmere en 1603 puis, vicomte Brackley en 1616.

Il fut Master of the Rolls de 1594 à 1603.
