The Sundays est un groupe de rock alternatif anglais formé dans les années 1980 et ayant sorti trois albums dans les années 1990.

Histoire

Le groupe The Sundays naît de la rencontre entre la chanteuse Harriet Wheeler et le guitariste David Gavurin à l'université. Ce duo s'est complété par la venue du bassiste Paul Brindley et du batteur Patrick Hannan. Une fois formé, le quatuor signe un contrat chez la maison de disques Rough Trade Records. Il réalise alors son premier single Can't Be Sure puis son premier album, Reading, Writing and Arithmetic en 1990.

Après les ennuis financiers de leur maison de disques, The Sundays vont produire leurs travaux suivants : Blind (1992) leur 2e album puis le magnifique 3e et dernier album Static and Silence (1997) qui seront accompagnés de quelques autres singles comme Goodbye (1993) ou encore Summertime (1997). A la fin des années 1990, le groupe disparaît lorsque le couple Gavurin/Wheeler décide d'élever ses deux enfants.

En 1992 la chanson " Wild Horses " (Blind) à était entendu dans la série "Buffy Contre les Vampires " dans la saison 3 , l'épisode " Les Chiens de l'enfer " dans la deuxième partie lors du bal de promo, et aussi dans le film "Fear" en 1996 avec Resse Witherspoon , Mark Wahlaberg et Alyssa Milano.

La Chanson à était réprise par les Rolling Stones en 1995 puis par Susan Boyle en 2009 .
