Protococcus (parfois appelé Pleurococcus) est un genre d'algues vertes unicellulaire aérophile[1] qui a besoin de beaucoup d'humidité et de pluie. Ce sont des algues abondantes sur les troncs d'arbres, formant des tâches vertes.
