Le genre Neptis regroupe des papillons de la famille Nymphalidae et à la sous famille des Limenitidinae présent suivant les espèces en Asie du sud-est, Australie, Afrique et en Europe pour deux d'entre eux, le Sylvain de la gesse (Neptis sappho) et le Sylvain des spirées (Neptis rivularis).

Dénomination

Le genre Neptis a été nommé par Johan Christian Fabricius en 1807.
