Mutiny Within est un groupe de métal venu de Edison dans le New Jersey. Le groupe a été fondé en 2002 par le bassiste Andrew Jacobs à la base pour faire des reprises du célèbre groupe de death métal mélodique Children Of Bodom.Depuis sa création, le groupe changea fréquemment de membres avant d'arriver à la composition actuelle. Le frère de Andrew, Brandon Jacobs, s'est joint à la formation avec le batteur Bill Fore et le claviste Drew Stavola. Ils eurent beaucoup de mal à trouver un chanteur à leur goût et cherchèrent plus loin que dans leur quartier. C'est en remarquant Chris Clancy sur Youtube, que le groupe lui firent une proposition pour rejoindre la formation. Chris Clancy habitait alors en Angleterre et postait des vidéos de démonstrations de chant assez ambitieuses (reprises de Queen, chant d'Opéra, ...)
Le guitariste Dan Bage est également originaire d'Angleterre et il fut le dernier à rejoindre le groupe.
En 2010, le groupe signe un gros contrat pour leur premier album et une tournée internationale avec le prestigieux label Roadrunner Records.
