Michael J. Bassett né dans le Shropshire, est un scénariste et réalisateur britannique. Il a produit de nombreux films, à la fois pour la télévision et le cinéma.

Formation

Bassett est né et a grandi à Newport, dans les West Midlands au Royaume-Uni, où il a étudié à l'école Adams Grammar School. Là bas, il adorait la faune, la flore et la nature, Michael était très intéressé. A l'âge de 16 ans il décide de devenir vétérinaire, mais quelque temps après il change d'avis et devient l'assistant d'un cinéaste de la faune, avec 18 mois d'apprentissage. Après ça, il retourne à l'école dans l'espoir d'obtenir un diplôme de Zoologie. Puis il devient présentateur de spectacles. Il part pour travailler sur d'autres programmes. Finalement, Bassett a été contacté par Janet Street Porter pour devenir réalisateur de films... Il accepte.

Carrière

En 2002, il réalise son premier long métrage La Tranchée (Deathwatch), un film d'horreur, qui a eu un très grand succès. Son film le plus terrifiant est Solomon Kane, sorti en 2009 au Royaume-Uni. Il a également été distribué dans toute l'Europe. En 2010, Michael a réalisé The Unblinking Eye, un film parlant de tueur en série, avec Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
