Manly Wade Wellman

Manly Wade Wellman est un auteur américain, né le 21 mai 1903 et décédé le 5 avril 1986.

Biographie

Wellman est né en Angola. Il étudie à l’université municipale de Wichita (devenue ensuite université d’État) au Kansas, puis obtient son diplôme à l’université Columbia. Il a longtemps vécu en Caroline du Nord.

Il a reçu plusieurs récompenses, dont un prix World Fantasy et un prix Edgar Allan Poe.

Il est principalement connu pour ses roman d’horreur et de fantasy dans les Appalaches dépeignant le folklore de la région, mais a touché à de nombreux genres dont la science-fiction, la fantasy, la fiction historique, le roman policier, le Spirit lorsque son créateur, Will Eisner, combattait durant la seconde guerre mondiale.
