En cours de realisation depuis deux ans et en collaboration avec Freemuse, la Norvégienne Deeyah a complié et coréalisé un album de musique dans lequel figurent des artistes interdis et censurés du Moyen-Orient dont l’Afrique et l’Asie[1], [2] Encensés par la critique, l’album Listen to the Banned a atteint la sixième place sur World Music Charts Europe et y est resté pendant plusieurs mois[3]. L’album est sorti dans le monde entier au cours de 2010.
Travaillant ensemble avec Freemuse, le but de Deeyah pour Listen To The Banned est d’aider à donner une voix à ceux privés de la parole, de promouvoir la liberté de l’expression creative et musicale et de promouvoir le travail de Freemuse que Deeyah soutient fortement depuis plusieurs années[4]. L’album est aussi soutenu par Amnesty International UK[5].
