Kathleen O'Neal Gear (Tulare (Californie), 1954) est une historienne et femme de lettres américaine.
Elle étudia le 1er et 2e degré à l'Université d'État de Californie avec un 3e degré à l'Université hébraïque de Jérusalem. Elle a été directrice de thèses doctorales à UCLA et historienne et archéologue des États de Wyoming, de Kansas, de Nebraska et du Département de l'Intérieur des États-Unis.
Son mari W. Michael Gear est souvent coauteur de ses œuvres. Ils habitent à Thermopolis.
