Jóhann Jóhannsson est un musicien, compositeur et producteur islandais. Il est également connu pour être un des co-fondateurs de Kitchen Motors, sorte d'organisation artistique, maison de disques et laboratoire d'idées, basée à Reykjavik.
Il commence sa carrière en 1999 avec le groupe Apparat Organ Quartet dont il est le fondateur. Le groupe joue dans plusieurs festivals européens. Jóhannsson produit et écrit des titres pour d'autres artistes comme Marc Almond (l'album Stranger Things), Barry Adamson, Pan Sonic, The Hafler Trio, Magga Stina et d'autres encore. Il écrit par ailleurs des morceaux pour le théâtre, des documentaires ou même des bandes originales pour quelques films. Il est également membre du groupe islandais Evil Madness.
