John Middleton Murry

John Middleton Murry, né le 6 août 1889 à Peckham, près de Londres, et mort le 12 mars 1957, est un écrivain, journaliste et critique littéraire anglais.

Bibliographie

Personnalité importante des milieux littéraires au cours de la première moitié du XXe siècle, il a été le second mari de Katherine Mansfield, dont il a contribué à faire publier l'œuvre, et un proche ami de D. H. Lawrence. Il a eu une courte liaison avec la princesse Elizabeth Bibesco.

Il a participé à de nombreuses revues, notamment Rhythm (1911-1913), The Signature (1915), Athenaeum (1929-1931) et The New Adelphi, (1927-1930).

Le fils qu'il a eu de sa seconde femme, Violet Le Maistre, John Middleton Murry Jr., a publié quatre romans sous le pseudonyme de Colin Murry – après la mort de son père qui avait accueilli le premier sans indulgence – et de nombreux romans et nouvelles de science-fiction sous celui de Richard Cowper.
