I Am the West est le 9e album studio du rappeur Ice Cube qui sortira en France le 11 octobre 2010.
Le projet
Ice Cube avait annoncé que cet album sera différent de ses précédents. Il avait avoué avoir reçu des productions de "vétérans" de la scène Hip-Hop West Coast tels que DJ Quik et E-A-Ski. Finalement, aucun d'entres eux ne sont présents. Aussi bien sur le plan des producteurs que des featurings, les collaborateurs d'Ice Cube sur cet album sont peu connus, excepté le rappeur WC.
L'album sort sur le propre label indépendant d'Ice Cube : Lench Mob Records. Le rappeur déclare qu'il aime travailler en indépendant car il se sent libre et pas dirigé par une major[3].
L'album se vend à 22 000 exemplaires lors de la première semaine aux États-Unis. Il est devancé par Lil Wayne et Gucci Mane.[réf. nécessaire]
