Edward Willis Scripps (1854 – 1926) est un homme d'affaires américain du XXe siècle qui a fondé le 2 novembre 1878 la E. W. Scripps Company, une entreprise américaine de média basée à Cincinnati dans l'Ohio.
Son grand frère James fonde le Detroit News en 1873, au sein duquel il fait ses premières armes dès l'âge de 19 ans, puis lui prête de l'argent pour créer son propre titre The Penny Press, qui deviendra plus tard le Cleveland Press à Cleveland. Le soutien financier de sa sœur Ellen lui permet de lancer ou racheter 25 journaux et de fonder un empire des médias.
Edward Willis Scripps fonde en 1897 la United Press association, pour approvisionner ses journaux sans passer par l'Associated Press, puis en 1907 ce qui deviendra United Press International (UPI).
