Le Championnat des États-Unis de football 1968 est la première édition du championnat nord-américain de football (NASL). Dix-sept équipes (Quinze provenant des États-Unis et deux du Canada) prennent part à la compétition, qui se déroule en 2 phases : au cours de la première phase, les clubs sont répartis en 4 poules géographiques (Atlantique, Grands Lacs, Golfe et Pacifique) mais rencontrent 2 fois toutes les équipes (à domicile et à l'extérieur). Le premier de chaque poule est qualifié pour la phase finale, disputée en série de 3 matchs. Comme dans d'autres compétitions organisées en Amérique (Ligue nationale de hockey ou NBA), il n'y a ni promotion, ni relégation, un système de franchises est mis en place.
C'est le club d'Atlanta Chiefs qui remporte cette première édition en battant en finale San Diego Toros.
