Born to Be Alive est un album interprété par Patrick Hernandez, un chanteur français, édité en 1979.
L'album contient une piste du même nom, écrite par Hernandez, qui a reçu un réel succès mondial, demeurant trois semaines numéro 1 du « Hot Dance/Club Play » aux États-Unis[1].
Dans un premier temps, aucun producteur ne voulut publier cette chanson que Patrick Hernandez avait enregistrée en Belgique; Après avoir prospecté auprès des plus importants d'entre-eux, il trouva finalement un petit producteur en Italie qui accepta de l'éditer. La chanson Born to Be Alive reçu finalement un réel succès en France, restant l'un des singles les plus vendus dans le pays avec plus de 1 400 000 de copies écoulées[2] avant de conquérir le reste du monde. Ceci permit au chanteur d'arrêter sa carrière et de vivre des royalities procurées par ce seul succès de l'artiste, se contentant de quelques rares apparitions lors de show télé ou sur scène.
