Academy Bay est un havre naturel de Santa Cruz, l'une dans les Îles Galápagos.
Étymologie
La baie porte le nom de la California Academy of Sciences, qui y envoya une expédition en 1950. Elle abrite le Charles Darwin Research Station, créé en 1959 pour préserver et étudier la faune et la flore de l'archipel.
Histoire
En 1906, l'équipage du navire norvégien Alexandra y est sauvé.
Tourisme et transport
La baie est une destination populaire tant auprès des touristes que des marins borde la ville de Puerto Isidro Ayora, la plus grande des Galápagos. L'intérêt touristique s'explique par la présence de phoques et par des coulées de lave flottant au bord de l'eau.
La plongée sous-marine y est populaire.
