Æthelwald (mort vers 902) était le fils aîné du roi Ethelred de Wessex, et le frère d'Æthelhelm. En 899, son cousin Édouard, fils d'Alfred le Grand, devint roi. Æthelwald s'allia alors aux Danois pour lui disputer le trône. Leurs deux armées s'affrontèrent à Holme : les Danois furent vainqueurs, mais Æthelwald fut tué, de même que son allié Eohric d'Est-Anglie.
