1re division blindée (Royaume-Uni)


Stationnée en Allemagne, la 1re division blindée représente la dernière division de la British Army of Rhine (BAOR). Ce corps d'armée stationné en Allemagne de l'Ouest regroupait durant la Guerre froide pas moins de trois divisions blindées.

Organisation

Depuis la fin de cette période, elle regroupe entre autres trois brigades blindées :

  • 4e brigade blindée ;
  • 7e brigade blindée ;
  • 20e brigade blindée.

Début 2005, la 1re division blindée regroupe pas moins de 17 000 hommes et aligne 150 chars de combat Challenger 2 et 450 véhicules blindés de combat d’infanterie Warrior.

Durant cette année, cette division comptait quatre régiments blindés et deux de reconnaissance (unités divisionnaires), et six bataillons d’infanterie blindée.

Courant 2006, la 4e brigade blindée est convertie en brigade mécanisée à Catterick.
