Wilbur Whateley a été mis au monde au village de Dunwich par Lavinia Wateley. Personne ne connaît l'identité de son géniteur. Cependant certains protagonistes du récit découvrent que son véritable père n'est autre que le dieu extérieur Yog-Sothoth.
