What is life est le deuxième 45 tours de George Harrison extrait de son album All things must pass.
Moins évident que My Sweet Lord mais tout aussi efficace ce titre remportera un succès exceptionnel tout au long de l'année 1971. Il sera même repris pour la B.O du film Big daddy de Dennis Dugan (1999) qui redonnera une nouvelle jeunesse à la chanson. Sur All things must pass, l'album remixé en 2001, George Harrison introduira une version de "What is life" sur l'introduction de laquelle une trompette inutile avait été utilisée. L'année 1971 sera l'année Harrison qui sera la rock star la plus célèbre (et la plus célébrée) du monde. Sa trilogie de l'année ("My Sweet Lord", "What is life" et "Bangla Desh") le hisseront à un niveau auquel même ses anciens acolytes et lui-même eurent du mal à aller ensuite.
