Washakie

Washakie (né aux environ de 1804-1808 et décédé en 1900) était un chef et combattant amérindien renommé qui se fit pour la première fois connaître en 1840 dans les écrits du trappeur Osborne Russell. En 1851, il mena une bande de guerriers Shoshones lors de la signature du traité de Fort Laramie (1851). Après cette date et jusqu’à sa mort, il fut considéré par le gouvernement américain comme le chef de la tribu orientale des Shoshones[1].
