Wallace Sargent
Wallace Leslie William Sargent (né en 1935) est un astronome américain. Il est souvent appelé Wal Sargent. Bien que maintenant citoyen américain, il est né à Elsham en Angleterre. Il obtint son Ph.D. en 1959 à l'université de Manchester avant de venir travailler au Caltech où il travaille depuis lors (à l'exception d'une absence de quatre années pendant laquelle il prétend avoir dû retourner en Angleterre pour se trouver une épouse, Anneila Sargent).
Sargent est connu pour ses études sur les raies d'absorption des quasars. Il est actuellement Professeur d'astronomie Ira S. Bowen au Caltech.
Il est marié avec sa collègue astronome du Caltech Anneila Sargent.
