Le Voting Rights Act (Loi sur les droits de vote) est une loi du Congrès des États-Unis qui a été signée par le président Lyndon Johnson le 6 août 1965.
Bien qu'en théorie les Afro-Américains disposaient du droit de vote depuis 1870, depuis le vote des 14e et 15e amendements de la constitution des États-Unis, le droit de vote dans certains États du sud était subordonné à la réussite à un test de type scolaire assez exigeant, auquel la plupart des Noirs échouaient. De plus, une taxe était souvent requise avant de voter, que la plupart des Noirs n'avaient pas les moyens de payer.
Le Voting Rights Act supprima entre autres ces restrictions et permit donc à toute la population noire de voter. Le président George W. Bush signa son extension pour 25 ans le 27 juillet 2006.
