Les Vex Red sont un groupe anglais d'emo-métal, dont les influences semblent avoir été Nirvana, Pearl Jam voir le néo métal américain et qui sortent en 2002 Start with a Strong and Persistant Desire. Les titres Can't smile et Itch les propulsent sur le devant de la scène alternative de la première moitié de cette année 2002.
Mais très vite il apparait des dissensions dans le groupe et l'année suivante le groupe se sépare laissant derrière eux beaucoup de promesses. En effet, beaucoup de critiques de l'époque diront avoir entendu un groupe bien différent des vagues néo-métal et "anglo-pop" de l'époque. Le chanteur Terry Abbott s'est depuis lancé dans Septembre, les quatre autres membres ont fondé Scenes.
