Vasily Bartold
Vasily Vladimirovich Bartold (russe: Василий Владимирович Бартольд, aussi connu sous le nom de Wilhelm Barthold. Né le 15 Novembre 1869 à Saint-Pétersbourg et décédé le 19 aout 1930 à Léningrad. Il fut un historien russe puis soviétique qui a succédé à Wilhelm Radloff au poste le plus élevé à la division de Turcologie, au Musée d'Ethnographie et d'Anthropologie de l'Académie des Sciences de la Russie, à Saint-Pétersbourg. Sa contribution fut importante pour mieux comprendre la culture médiévale d'Asie centrale, ce qui lui valu le surnom de "Edward Gibbon du Turkestan".
