Sa préfecture (en turc : valiliği) se trouve dans la ville éponyme de Van (Wan en kurde).
Géographie
Sa superficie est de 19 069 km².
Population
Au recensement de 2005, la province était peuplée d'environ 988 260 habitants, soit une densité de population d'environ 51 hab./km². Elle est peuplée principalement de Kurdes.
