TMZ.com (ou Thirty-mile zone) est une coentreprise de médias entre AOL et Telepictures créé en 1995 qui recouvre ses activités sur les actualités des célébrités. Elle a été particulièrement mise en évidence lors du décès de Michael Jackson en juin 2009, en annonçant la mort de la star avant tous ses concurrents.
En juillet 2006, alors "jeune" site de huit mois d'existence, TMZ avait réalisé un premier coup d'éclat en révélant l'arrestation de l'acteur Mel Gibson, au volant en état d'ivresse, qui avait injurié les policiers et tenu des propos racistes. TMZ avait aussi révélé que le compte-rendu de la police avait passé sous silence une partie des faits[1],[2]
