Le Fantôme de l'Opéra est un film fantastique américain, réalisé par Arthur Lubin en 1943.
Synopsis
Claudin vient d'être licencié de son emploi de premier violon de l'Opéra. Cette situation l'affecte beaucoup car elle va l'empêcher de continuer à payer les leçons de chant de sa fille Christine, la doublure de la diva Biancarolli. En tuant un commerçant qui refuse d'acheter ses partitions, Claudin se fait défigurer par une cuvette d'acide. Se cachant dans les bas-fonds de l'Opéra, il décide d'enlever sa fille en pleine représentation. C'est la panique à l'opéra. Celle-ci devait interprêter un rôle très prestigieux. Un jeune ami de la belle découvre qu'un passage mène, par les égouts, aux anciennes caves de l'opéra, désaffectées, et qu'une vengeance implacable s'y trame...
