Avannaa (en kalaallisut) ou Nordgrønland (en danois, c’est-à-dire « Nord-Groenland », également nommé Avannaarsua ou Avanersuaq) est l'un des trois comtés — ou amter — du Groenland. Qaanaaq, la seule ville du comté, en est le siège.
Description
Situé à l'extrême nord du Groenland, Avannaa ne compte que 843 habitants sur un territoire libre de glace de 106 700 km², soit une densité de population de 0,0079 habitant par km², la plus faible du monde pour une subdivision administrative de cet ordre[1]. La superficie totale d'Avannaa, en incluant la calotte glaciaire, dépasse 500 000 km². Avannaa possède une plus grande proportion de terre dégagée de glace (par exemple, la terre de Peary) que les autres zones du Groenland à cause de sa situation géographique : les précipitations y sont très faibles.
