Techie est un terme dérivé du mot anglais technology ; il désigne une personne qui affiche un grand, voire obsédant, intérêt pour les technologies, les appareils électroniques, et particulièrement les ordinateurs. Quelques techies voient d'un mauvais regard les technologies obsolètes, même si la technologie en question est considéré comme désuète seulement par la communauté techie. Les geeks et nerds peuvent-être considérés comme des techies ; cependant l'inverse n'est pas toujours vrai et beaucoup de personnes qui ne sont pas considérées comme geek sont devenue techies.
« Techie » est aussi utilisé pour désigner les étudiants des universités avec le mot Technology dans le nom comme Caltech, Georgia Tech, MIT, IIT, NJIT, FIT et Virginia Tech.
