Taxis urbains de Hong Kong

Les taxis sont un moyen de transport très prisé des habitants de Hong Kong. La plupart des chauffeurs sont indépendants, mais certains sont employés par des compagnies.

En 2003, il y avait un total de 18138 taxis à Hong Kong, comprenant 15250 taxis urbains (de couleur rouge), 2838 taxis pour les Nouveaux Territoires (de couleur verte) et 50 taxis pour Lantau (de couleur bleue). Ils desservent quotidiennement respectivement 1,1 million, 207900 et 1400 passagers.

Leur licences sont soumis a des délimitations géographiques: Les taxis bleus de Lantau n'ont pas le droit de sortir de leur périmetre qui comprend l'îsle de Lantau, Tung Chung, l'aeroport et Disneyland; les taxis verts desservent tout ce qui est designé les Nouveaux Territoires uniquement, et ne doivent pas franchir la zone urbaine; les taxis rouges « urbains », qui ont la tarification la plus chère, peuvent parcourir le territoire entier, l'exception de Lantau hors Tung Chung, l'aeroport et Disneyland.
