Allah Akbar (arabe : الله أَكْبَر) signifie en arabe « Dieu est le plus grand ».
Cette formule s'appelle le takbîr (en arabe : تكبير). La prononciation exacte est Allahou akbar. Elle est parfois mal traduite par : « Dieu est grand ».
Cette phrase est employée par les musulmans (et dans une moindre mesure par les chrétiens) arabophones dans de nombreuses circonstances. Par exemple, dans le cas de réjouissances, ou pendant les batailles.
En islam, la phrase apparaît dans la prière et elle fait partie de l'appel à la prière (adhân).
La phrase est inscrite au centre du drapeau de l'Irak et sur le drapeau de l'Iran.
Il s'agit du titre de l'hymne national libyen.
