Straight Outta Compton
Straight Outta Compton est le deuxième album de N.W.A., après N.W.A. and the Posse (1987), sorti en 1988 chez Priority Records. Tous les titres sont produits par Dr. Dre et Yella pour High Powered Productions. A sa sortie, le disque connut une vive controverse notamment à cause du titre "Fuck tha Police" où le groupe dénoncait le racisme et la violence des forces de l'ordre de Los Angeles. Les thèmes abordés sont la violence ("Gangsta Gangsta"), la drogue ("Dopeman") et les filles faciles ("I Ain't tha 1"). Straight Outta Compton tourna une page de l'histoire du rap et popularisa le Gangsta-rap.
Express Yourself est un hit en 1989.
Fuck tha Police est N° 417 des 500 Greatest songs of all time du magazine Rolling Stone en 2003.
