54° 12′ 51″ N 0° 25′ 25″ W / 54.214287, -0.423476 Star Carr est un site mésolithique important il se trouve près de Scarborough, Yorkshire du Nord en Angleterre et a été habité par une population de type chasseurs-cueilleurs.
Les premières recherches sur Star Carr ont été commencées en 1949 sous la direction de Sir Grahame Clark. Ce site est intéressant, parce que outre des traces typiques d'une population de chasseurs-cueilleurs comme des outils de pierre ou des coques de noisettes calcinés, on y a trouvé des ramures de cerf troués.
Chaque ramure resté attachée à une partie du crane a été travaillée. Allégée et trouée pour pouvoir être attachée au sommet du crane comme une coiffe. Elles ne semblent pas avoir d’utilité guerrière (trop fragile) ou vestimentaire (pas de protection contre le froid). La fonction cérémonielle semble être la seule plausible.
Un possibilité de relation est mentionné avec la représentation de Kernunos le dieu et sa représentation présumée sur le chaudron de Gundestrup.
