Speak of the Devil est le premier album en concert d'Ozzy Osbourne sans son ancien groupe Black Sabbath. Il a été lancé en 1982 avec comme musiciens Rudy Sarzo (basse), Tommy Aldridge (batterie) et Brad Gillis (guitare). Ce dernier faisait toujours partie du groupe Night Ranger, et n'a été engagé que pour 2 spectacles avec Ozzy (les 26 et 27 septembre 1982 au Ritz de New York), dans le but express d'enregistrer cet album.
Le but de l'album était de damer le pion à ses anciens confrères de Black Sabbath, qui avaient eux aussi prévu de lancer un album en concert (Live Evil). Ozzy a finalement réussi à lancer son album 2 mois avant Live Evil.
Il s'agit également du premier album d'Ozzy sans le guitariste Randy Rhoads, décédé le 17 mars 1982 dans un accident d'avion, à l'âge de 24 ans.
N.B cet album fut supprimé du catalogue Ozzy Osbourne en 2002.

Note
- Le 20 juin 2007 sort au Japon une version remasterisée de l'album. Celle-ci ressemble à un petit vinyle. On peut l'acheter seul pour 34 USD ou en coffret avec les autres disques remasterisés cette année-là pour 295 USD.
