Something in The Way est une chanson du groupe Nirvana, groupe grunge qui s'est ouvert vers la route du succès avec l'album Nevermind.

Selon la légende, le leader du groupe, Kurt Cobain, aurait dormi sous un pont d'Aberdeen (Washington), ce qui lui aurait inspiré cette chanson[réf. nécessaire]. Fuyant les disputes familiales entre ses parents, il passait beaucoup de temps là-bas.

Cette chanson, bien que simple du point de vue technique (deux accords se répétant tout le long), a été particulièrement difficile à enregistrer pour la basse. En effet, Kurt a utilisé une guitare de mauvaise qualité, ne tenant pas trop l'accord. Ainsi la guitare est légèrement désaccordée rendant délicat l'accordage de la basse. L'ingénieur du son a passé beaucoup de temps dessus.

La chanson sur l'album original Nevermind, 2e du groupe devenu culte, contient une piste cachée, Endless, Nameless à 14 min 35 s.
