Dans plusieurs œuvres de fiction, le mot Sidhe d'origine gaélique est employé pour parler d'une une sorte spécifique de créatures merveilleuses (voir fée) qui seraient la noblesse des royaumes féeriques. Dans Changelin : le Songe il est dit que si les autres espèces féeriques sont nées des rêves humains, les Sidhes sont nés spécifiquement des rêves des rois et des reines.
Les Sidhes en général représentés comme des êtres anthropomorphes grands, élancés mais surtout d'une beauté extraordinaire, possédant souvent une présence et un charisme très impressionnants. Ils sont aussi souvent décrits comme hautains et prétentieux. Ils peuvent être foncièrement bons et prodiguer nombres de bienfaits, tout comme ils peuvent être d'une cruauté et d'une malice sans égales, car ils règnent sur les plus beaux songes comme sur les pires cauchemars.
