Shriekback est un groupe anglais, formé en 1982, par Barry Andrews (claviers, chant), ancien du groupe XTC, Carl Marsh (guitare, chant) et Dave Allen (basse) (ex-Gang of Four). Le batteur Martyn Barker rejoint le groupe en 1983.
Leur musique mixant basses funks, percussions tribales et synthétiseurs complexes avec des paroles originales et scientifiquement concernées, connaitra des sommets ('Jam Science') avant de décliner selon le processus classique : problèmes d'ego, lassitude, recherche du gros coup sur le marché américain.
Leur production depuis 1988 est devenue anecdotique.
