Les shapeurs ou shapers sont les artisans qui fabriquent les planches de surf. Ils travaillent dans un shaperoom.
Le shape d'une planche se fait le plus souvent à partir d'un pain de mousse polyuréthane que le shaper va dégrossir, à l'aide d'outils tels qu'un rabot, une ponceuse, une grille à poncer ou un compas à mesurer, afin de lui donner sa forme finale.
le mot shaper est aussi utilisé pour désigner l'action que l'on fait pour donner la forme ou l'angle voulu à un tremplin de ski alpin ou bien à donner la forme aux super pipes qui sont des demi tubes en neige dans lesquels les skieurs peuvent évoluer en faisant des figures, c'est le principe de la rampe de skateboard aménagée pour le ski.
