Les Scottish Borders sont une région située dans le sud de l'Écosse entre Édimbourg et l'Angleterre. Cette région a longtemps constitué une zone tampon entre les deux pays. Elle s'étend sur une bonne partie des Southern Uplands, massif de collines métallifères et sur les riches terres agricoles de la basse vallée de la Tweed.
Les environs de Melrose gardent le souvenir de Walter Scott : Abbotsford où il vécut et Dryburgh Abbey qui abrite sa dernière demeure.
