Le San Cristobal est situé à l'est de l'archipel au centre administratif des Galápagos, la capitale est Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Son aéroport constitue le point de départ des croisières touristiques. Les sites les plus visités sont Punta Pitt, Isla Lobos, Leon Dormido (Kicker Rock) et lac Junco.
Punta Pitt possède une grande variété de plantes et d'animaux et de vastes plages de sable idéales pour la baignade.
Le Leon Dormido où deux rochers suggèrent étonnamment la forme d’un lion endormi est un spectaculaire rocher vertical de plus de 180 mètres de haut surplombant l'océan.
