Ryan Sweeney, né le 20 février 1985 à Cedar Rapids (Iowa) aux États-Unis, est un joueur américain de baseball évoluant en Ligue majeure de baseball avec les Oakland Athletics. Après la saison 2010, il compte 364 matchs joués pour 13 coups de circuit.

Carrière

Après des études secondaires à la Xavier High School de Cedar Rapids (Iowa), Ryan Sweeney est drafté le 3 juin 2003 par les White Sox de Chicago au deuxième tour de sélection[1]. A la signature de son premier contrat professionnel le 12 juillet 2003, il empoche un bonus de 785 000 dollars.

Sweeney passe quatre saisons en Ligues mineures avant d'effectuer ses débuts en Ligue majeure le 1er septembre 2006 sous les couleurs des White Sox. Il est échangé aux Athletics d'Oakland le 3 janvier 2008.
