QALY

QALY est l'acronyme anglais de "Quality Adjusted Life Year " ou année de vie ajustée par sa qualité. Cette notion a été proposée en 1977 par Weinstein et Stason. Elle est issue de l'application au champ de la santé de la théorie de l'utilité en économie.

Un QALY est une mesure de l'utilité perçue par les patients d'une action médicale qui correspond à une année de vie gagnée. Une année en bonne santé correspond à un QALY de 1.
