Posh est un portail web libre écrit en Javascript (Ajax) pour la partie cliente et en PHP pour la partie serveur. Posh a été créé en 2005 par Eric Mathieu.

Présentation

Posh est un agrégateur de sources. Il permet de créer sa propre page d'information à partir de flux RSS. Posh inclut également un certain nombre de widgets, tels qu'un calendrier, un widget de liens et d'autres. La version entreprise (dénommée Portaneo Enterprise portal) dispose de fonctionnalités de réseaux sociaux. Posh est utilisé en entreprise pour améliorer la diffusion et le partage du savoir.

A la différence de portails plus classiques, Posh est un portail personnalisable (par l'utilisateur), catégorie dans laquelle on trouve Netvibes, iGoogle, Liferay. Avec les onglets et la capacité à intégrer facilement des pages d'autres sites, on peut dire que le portail personnalisable est un navigateur dans le navigateur qu'on retrouve à l'identique d'une machine à l'autre. Particularité propre aussi à Liferay et d'autres solutions plus confidentielles, c'est un portail que chacun, entreprise ou particulier, peut installer chez soi, ce qui évite d'être dépendant de ressources extérieures et permet d'installer des widgets de données privées ou internes (intranet).

Fonctionnalités

Côté client

Posh est compatible avec tous les navigateurs du marché (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera). Il est possible d'y intégrer des widgets en provenance d'autres plateformes (Netvibes ou Igoogle). On peut ajouter des pages contenant des widgets, des pages contenant des pages d'autres sites. La version entreprise dispose d'un carnet partagé.

Côté serveur

Posh est compatible avec tous les systèmes d'exploitation intégrant un serveur web, une base de données et un interpréteur PHP. Il est possible d'y ajouter facilement des plugins. Authentification LDAP. captcha. interface d'administration entièrement paramétrable.

Le cœur du système est écrit en Javascript et utilise pleinement la technologie Ajax mise à l'honneur depuis quelques années et au cœur du Web 2.0. La partie serveur renvoie pour l'essentiel du XML traité ensuite par le Javascript pour la mise en forme.
